Bill Neal book signing

We just received the two books for Bill Neal, our author for the Butterfield Stagecoach and Wagon Festival. He will be signing copies at the Bar-B-Que so if you would like to make sure you have one or both of his books, please come by, the titles are From Guns to Gavels and Getting Away With Murder on the Texas Frontier. I think you will find Mr. Neal an interesting author. As a practicing criminal lawyer he spent more than 40 years in the county courthouses of West Texas and heard the tales of sensational crimes and celebrated trials of bygone years that started his journey into authorship. He lives in Abilene, Texas with his wife Gayla. His first book, Getting Away with Murder on the Texas Frontier was named Book of the Year by the National Association for Outlaw and Lawmen History, received the Rupert N. Richardson Award for best book on West Texas history from the West Texas Historical Association and was a finalist for both the Violet Crown Award from the Writer's League of Texas and Spur Award from the Western Writers of America. Western Historical Quarterly said it was a vivid portrait of nineteenth-century western legal systems that included shameless attorney "high jinks", massive subornation of perjury, and questionable pardons real and forged. The Historical Novels Review said of his second book From Guns to Gavels, that this work reminds us that the real story was often better than any legend...combining a scholarly attention to detail with the earthy feel of old saddle leather.
