Dinner Book Club

Last night was the Dinner Book Club meeting. We met at Robin's home and had a wonderful time. She served spaghetti, bread sticks, salad and fresh fruit dipped in a fondue of chocolate. The book we read for this month was 'The Five Love Languages' by Gary Chapman. What a great book and what a great discussion. If you have not read this book, do. I believe it can help anyone in recognizing how to reach out better to others and recognizing what we need in our own lives. I don't think there was one person in attendance that didn't talk about the things they discovered about themselves and about their spouse or significant other.
The book for next month for the Dinner Book Club is 'The Persian Pickle Club' by Sandra Dallas.
The following is just a small describtion to help peek your interest:
"It is the 1930s, and hard times have hit Harveyville, Kansas, where the crops are burning up and there’s not a job to be found. For Queenie Bean, a young farm wife, a highlight of each week is the gathering of the Persian Pickle Club, a group of local ladies dedicated to improving their minds, exchanging gossip, and putting their quilting skills to good use. When a new member of the club stirs up a dark secret, the women must band together to support and protect one another. In her magical, memorable novel, Sandra Dallas explores the ties that unite women through good times and bad."
I think you will love this delightful story. The title intrigued me. About halfway through the book I found out just what Pesian Pickles are and why these ladies called their club the Persian Pickle Club. I won't tell you though, you'll have to find out for yourself.
